Vietnam visa for UK passport holders
Current Vietnam entry and visa planning for UK dental patients, including passport validity, 45-day visa-free visits, 90-day e-visas and airport arrival checks.
British citizen passport holders can visit Vietnam without a visa for up to 45 days for tourism or business according to current GOV.UK advice. Longer treatment plans may need a 90-day e-visa or another visa route, and passports should have at least 6 months validity and 2 blank pages.
Current UK passport rule
GOV.UK states that people travelling on a full British citizen passport can currently visit Vietnam without a visa for up to 45 days for tourism or business.
That covers most veneer, crown, implant placement and All-on-4 planning trips. It may not cover long recovery stays, complex staged work, or patients combining treatment with extended travel.
Passport checks
Before booking flights, check that your passport has:
- At least 6 months validity from your arrival date.
- At least 2 blank pages.
- No damage.
Vietnamese authorities require you to enter and exit using the same passport.
Digital arrival card
GOV.UK notes that from 15 April 2026, foreign nationals entering through Tan Son Nhat Airport in Ho Chi Minh City are encouraged to complete a digital arrival card before arrival. It is not mandatory at the time of review, but the rule may change or expand to other airports with limited notice.
Practical dental-trip advice
- Screenshot or print your entry permission details before flying.
- Keep your return flight and hotel details accessible.
- If you connect onward domestically in Vietnam, expect to pass immigration in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City before the domestic flight.
- Recheck GOV.UK and airline requirements the week you travel.
